Strathspey Steam Train

Attractions & Sightseeing

World class things to do and see whatever the weather, whatever your age or interest, whatever your mood, all set in spectacular Scottish scenery…

What makes the Cairngorms National Park so unique is that, while being full of wild spaces, it’s also crammed with amazing attractions to visit, many of which are award-winning. Whether you want to wander around an open-air museum or castle, take a tipple on a distillery tour, pet wild animals roaming freely or walk with dinosaurs, you can! From adrenaline junkie to art lover, in the Cairngorms, there really is an attraction for everyone.

Some of our attractions are award winning, all are first-class.

Landmark Forest Adventure Park (right), for instance, has been named in the top 1% of visitor attractions worldwide by the prestigious TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award. Grantown-on-Spey Museum, The Highland Folk Museum and the Speyside Centre near Dulnain Bridge have also received award recognition from their industries.

And, our Castles are some of the best in Scotland, with 3 out of 10 of VisitScotland’s ‘Great Castles’ being in the Cairngorms National Park.

We’re at the cutting edge of outdoor sporting attractions.

Many of our outdoor experience providers have won accolades for their work and/or rave reviews from customers.

Craggan Outdoors, for example, was awarded ‘Best Outdoor Adventure Experience’ at the Scottish Outdoor Leisure Awards in 2019.

Tomintoul and Glenlivet is recognised, via its ‘International Dark Sky’ status, as one of the best places to stargaze.

You can do so many different activities here on land, on water, on bike track, even in go-kart (see left!).
