Highland Folk Museum

Best Visitor Attraction Award 2010 (ASVA) The Highland Folk Museum is 80 acres of living history fun for all the family.

The site is one mile long and we’ve got over 30 buildings for you to visit - ranging from our 1700s Township (featured in Outlander!) at one end through to our working croft at the other end.

Our pinewood is a recognised hot-spot for red squirrel spotting, we’ve a fully kitted out schoolhouse complete with teacher, an 1800s Highland Cottage, Boleskine Shinty Pavilion and much, much more.

Take a break in our cafe and visit our gift shop whilst the kids enjoy our great play park; and of course you’ve just got to visit everyone’s favourite - Kirk’s Stores - our old-fashioned sweetie shop - still selling sweets by the quarter!! Our aim is to show you how people lived in the Highlands from the 1700s up to the 1950s, so everyone can learn something by seeing and touching and talking to our costumed staff.

To get the best out of your visit we recommend that you should allow 3-5 hours.
