Our March show celebrates Nan Shepherd’s beloved book The Living Mountain – an intimate, place-rooted exploration of the Cairngorms that continues to inspire artists, walkers and nature-lovers today.

This special gathering will bring together local storytelling, music, poetry, song and visual art inspired by the mountains and our relationship with landscape. Contributions from all ages are warmly welcome – from performers and makers to those who simply come to listen and share in the atmosphere.

We’re thrilled to welcome special guest Jenny Sturgeon – Scottish singer-songwriter, sound artist and creator of the award-winning album and audio-visual project The Living Mountain. Jenny’s deeply atmospheric work weaves field recordings, song and landscape into a meditative exploration of place and our relationship with the natural world; a perfect resonance with Nan Shepherd’s writing and the spirit of this month’s Storylands Sessions. Jenny’s album The Living Mountain was nominated for Scottish Album of the Year and won Best Acoustic at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards.

An assembly of the brightest young musical talent in Strathspey & Badenoch, who have starred in Strathfest 2026, playing a wide array of instruments. Also choirs, singers and Gaelic language performances.

A concert by Dmytro Morykit, accompanying 2 silent films.

Dmytro is a concert pianist and composer who lives in Grantown-on-Spey. He provides musical accompaniment to two silent films:

“The Immigrant” starring Charlie Chaplain, and “A Journey Through Space and Time”, imagery of our solar system from NASA archives

This charity concert supports the Grantown Grammar School Parent Council programs, such as the Breakfast Club and Fabrics Room. The Breakfast Club provides a free breakfast to all GGS pupils, and is popular with both students and staff.

Come and join us for this extra special music event – home-grown folk music, local heritage and good company, in the cozy atmosphere of Nethy Bridge Community Centre Village in Strathspey.

This concert features local musicians Hamish Napier (flute, whistles, harmonium, vocals & stories) and Jordan Neil (guitar & Scottish small pipes), an all-Strathspey musical duo, with a programme of folk music themed on River Spey, surrounding hills and local heritage.

Please note this is part of a special 3-concert mini tour of community halls along the River Spey. If you can’t catch Hamish and Jordan play in your local hall you might not have very far to travel to see them play at one of the other halls:

Thursday 19th March – Dalwhinnie Village Hall
Friday 20th March – Nethy Bridge Community Centre
Saturday 21st March – The Strathdearn Commuity Hub, Tomatin
