What could be better than a refreshing cold drink in the sunshine after a day exploring in the Cairngorms? Here we share some of our favourite beer gardens to go for a wee drink or a spot of lunch in the Cairngorms National Park…
1. McInnes House Hotel – Kingussie
Recently refurbished, the McInnes House Hotel has a great little beer garden in the centre of Kingussie. Why not take in a game of Shinty at the Dell on a Saturday afternoon and head to the McInnes for a pint afterwards.
2. The Old Bridge Inn – Aviemore
On the banks of the river Spey in Aviemore, the Old Bridge Inn’s beer garden is the perfect way to relax after a day in the hills. Serving delicious food and a huge array of local whiskies, gins and craft beers.
3. Glen Clova Hotel – Glen Clova
Take a hike into Corrie Fee and reward yourself with a pint at the Glen Clova Hotel. Beautiful views and lovely, friendly staff all add to the experience. Don’t forget to try the Glen Clova Ale while you’re there!

4. Atholl Arms Hotel – Blair Atholl
After exploring Blair Castle & Gardens why not make a visit to the Atholl Arms Hotel. Their lovely beer garden is the ideal place to relax and enjoy a nice cold beer or a bite to eat.
5. Boat House Restaurant – Loch Insh
Not a traditional pub as such but a terrific spot for a couple of drinks or a spot of lunch. The Boathouse Restaurant has a terraced area which overlooks beautiful Loch Insh and is a great place to watch as people enjoy watersports.
6. The Nethy Hotel – Nethy Bridge
Relax and enjoy a quiet pint in tranquil Nethy Bridge. A great pit stop for walkers and cyclists on the Speyside Way.
7. The Cairngorm Hotel – Aviemore
In the heart of Aviemore, the beer garden at the Cairngorm Hotel is a great place to sit and people watch. Serving traditional pub grub and local ales this pub is a favourite amongst visitors and locals alike. If you’re there between 8.30-9pm you may even see Spud the Piper playing outside the hotel!
8. Braemar Lodge Hotel – Braemar
Toast to your Royal surroundings at the Braemar Lodge Hotel after enjoying a visit to Balmoral Castle and Royal Lochnagar Distillery. Originally a Victorian shooting lodge, the Braemar Hotel is said to have the largest range of malt whiskies in the area!
