Pet friendly holidays in the Cairngorms

For many people taking their pets on holiday with them is really important but sometimes it can be difficult to find places to stay or things to do where dogs are allowed. Here we explore pet friendly places to stay, eat and things to do in the Cairngorms National Park with your four legged friends…

1. Travelling with Pets

Most national rail services allow you to take dogs, cats and other small animals on board for no extra fee.* If you are travelling from London why not take the Caledonian Sleeper train overnight and wake up in the Cairngorms! Pets tickets are available from around £25 for up to two dogs or cats. *Please check with your service before travelling on their rules.

4. Dog walking

You can walk most places in the Cairngorms National Park with a dog but at certain times of the year we ask that you keep your dog on a lead to protect nesting birds. You should never let your animals worry or attack farm animals and its best to avoid fields where there are young animals. For more information about dog walking rules visit the Outdoor Access website.  If your looking for dedicated dog exercise areas, head to Rothiemurchus where they have special areas for your furry friends to run free without disturbing the local wildlife, visit their website for more info.
