October Fun in the Cairngorms: The ‘Tattie Holidays’

In Scotland, the October half-term is affectionately known as the ‘tattie holidays’ because children once had time off school to help with the annual potato harvest.

These days, the ‘tattie holidays’ are much less about hard work and much more about having fun (phew!)—and the Cairngorms National Park certainly has plenty on offer this October.
Here is a list of some of the best activities to enjoy during your break:

Spookfest at Landmark Forest Adventure Park

This firm favourite returns, getting spookier each year. Brilliant fun for all ages.

Ranger Events and Castle Legends at Atholl Estates

Discover exciting children’s activities from Ranger Julia, this may include wildlife crafts and making bird feeders! Legends of the Castle: an after dark tour with spooky tales on 30th October will be great fun.

Cairngorm Mountain

The perfect place for great fun and a knockout view, offering an Adventure Play Park, Tubing Slides, Mountain Biking and an Adventure Ball Run.
