On approaching Glencraig, it’s easy to understand why Nethy Bridge is nicknamed ‘The Forest Village’.
Trees line the singletrack road that leads out of the village centre towards the lodge, which you arrive at via an equally leafy driveway.
Glencraig is a modern lodge with a spaciousness that makes it feel more like a period property inside.
Even with the full count of ten guests in residence, everyone can enjoy their own space.
Downstairs, there’s a lounge, a kitchen/dining room, and a games room, plus a utility and loo.
The kitchen and lounge share a patio, which is accessed from both via French doors.
In warmer weather, the patio’s southwest-facing aspect, outdoor dining table and BBQ make it ideal for alfresco meals.
On the other side of the lodge, the games room is the perfect place to loaf around, watch a film or play one of the vast selection of board games.
Or you could keep an eye on Glencraig’s four nesting boxes via the live feed.
If chicks are growing during your stay, there’s a good chance you’ll never turn on the TV.
For those who like to move, there’s table tennis in here too.
Upstairs, the roomy and comfortable interior continues.
The three twin and two double bedrooms are zoned across three areas and share two bathrooms, each with a separate shower.
Planning a working holiday? The main bedroom has a handy office space next to it.
Glencraig’s generous proportions are reflected in the garden, which feels secluded and private despite the surrounding neighbours.
It’s ringed by mature woodland and, unusually for a garden this big, a secure fence, so dogs and kids can be let loose without worry.
They will spend hours exploring here: making dens, climbing trees, and playing hide-and-seek among the birch and pine.
Red squirrels may even join in the fun, as the lodge’s owners leave food to entice them - and the local bird population - to visit.
Such is the lack of light pollution in Nethy Bridge that, on clear-sky nights, you’ll be treated to a starry show.
The village’s excellent cafe, hotel bar, and butcher and deli are within wandering distance along a peaceful riverside path.
There are walking and off-road cycle tracks right from the door, and the village also has a golf course, tennis courts and a football pitch.
With Grantown-on-Spey only ten minutes away, and Aviemore fifteen, the rest of the Cairngorms National Park is at your fingertips..

How to find us
Coming into Nethy Bridge from Boat of Garten, turn right just before the main bridge in the village centre. Continue up the road, passing the shop, village hall and church on your right. Stay on Dell Road and you'll find Glencraig's driveway on your right-hand side.
