A Community-Inspired Café. Following a devastating fire in 2015, HRH The Duke of Rothesay’s charity, The Prince’s Foundation, initiated an extensive restoration plan to reinstate the station to its former glory.
Rothesay Rooms is a stylish and unique eating destination, one of Royal Deeside’s most revered Cafés and its menu celebrates the best in Scottish produce and continues to be at the heart of the community. The Café is set within the Old Royal Station, with plenty of seating in a bright and airy relaxed atmosphere, with a replica of Queen Victoria’s royal carriage and the royal waiting room, beautifully decorated with wood panelling, period furniture and stained glass windows. The Rothesay Rooms is well worth a visit, whether you are here on holiday enjoying the many sights and activities in the area or simply passing through. We are open Wednesday to Sunday for brunch, lunch and afternoon teas and a traditional Sunday roast during the colder months. We offer a daily changing selection of homebaked scones and cakes served with our Birkhall blend coffee by speciality roasters Roaring Stag of Ballater and uniquely hand blended award winning teas from Twist. A Tribute To Scottish Flavours, we are forever conscious to increase the positive impact we have on everyone that connects with us. We work closely with our suppliers across the whole farm to fork journey.
Our chefs are closely connected to their local suppliers and farmers, sourcing the best in fresh, seasonal, Scottish produce. Our menus include Glen Muick venison, Aberdeenshire Angus beef, Grampian eggs, reliably sourced Scottish salmon and award winning speciality cheeses from the Scottish Highlands and Islands..
