Tomintoul Bird Hide

Pay a visit to the hide to see how many Curlew, Lapwing (Peesies), Oystercatcher, Snipe and Redshank you can spot in one of the best breeding areas for waders in the North East of Scotland. This bird hide is located in Tomintoul which is on the Glenlivet Estate.

The area is a stronghold for wading birds and is one of the best breeding areas in North East of Scotland.

Curlew, Lapwing, Oystercatcher, Snipe and Redshank can all bed spotted here thanks to careful farming regimes and the creation of ponds and wetland areas.

As well as being of great importance for breeding birds, areas such as the Conglass Floodplain at Tomintoul are of cultural significance as these birds have nested alongside people for centuries, and their sights and sounds are an important part of the landscape.

As well as wader birds, Many of the Cairngorms` most endangered species are found on Glenlivet Crown Estate including Golden Eagle, Mountain Hare, Wild Cat, Black Grouse, Crossbill, Dotterel, Ptarmigan, Crested Tit, Pine Marten, Red Squirrel, Water Vole and Otter..
