The restaurant is open for dinner from Wednesday to Sunday. On Mondays, the restaurant is open to hotel residents only, when a set menu is served. The restaurant is closed to all on Tuesdays. Dinner is served from 6pm, with last orders at 8pm. Private dining and group bookings can also be arranged.

Darroch Learg is situated on Braemar Road in Ballater, within the Cairngorms National Park, overlooking the River Dee valley towards Glen Muick and Lochnagar. The hotel sits on the wooded slopes of Craigendarroch, giving it a peaceful setting while still being within easy walking distance of Ballater village and its independent shops, cafés and galleries. Balmoral Castle is just 8 miles away, while the surrounding area offers excellent walking, cycling, fishing and golf, with the eastern Cairngorms and mountain landscapes of Lochnagar and Glen Muick close by.
