Tornashean

Tornashean is an elegant Edwardian lodge set in a very tranquil and beautiful location within 65 acres of fields and woodland overlooking its own beat on the River Don.

Tornashean is a very private and peaceful place, tucked away in its own valley within upper Donside and yet it also has good access to local amenities. The house is let by the week, very spacious and comfortable, 7 bedrooms, sleeping up to 16 people.

Light, airy and spacious bedrooms, modern and stylish shower room, three bathrooms, central heating, open fire and wood burning stoves, large kitchen, formal dining room.

The disabled access via the large front door is easy and level, and although all bedrooms are upstairs, the staircase is very wide and not steep and with an easy access to a modern walk in shower room. The garden is beautiful, secure and ideal for children and has lovely lawns and flowerbeds with views down to the river.

There is also plenty of outdoor seating and an area for barbecues.

A number of really nice walks can be taken from the house. The house is available to rent from Saturday to Saturday from April to the end of October.

Long weekends are also available out of season. We are taking bookings for this spring, summer and autumn 2024..

How to find us

Tornashean is situated in Strathdon which is in the Cairngorms National Park, 44 miles due west of Aberdeen, 17 miles from Tomintoul and 19 miles over the hill from Ballater on Royal Deeside. We are directly on both the Highland Tourist route between Aberdeen and Inverness and the Snow Roads route. Literally around the corner from Glenlivet, Tornashean is close to many Speyside distilleries, castles and gardens such as Ballindalloch and Crathes and also Tomintoul Dark Sky Discovery Site. An excellent base for walking and exploring the Cairngorms. Activities for children include the Reindeer Centre near Aviemore and Landmark at Carrbridge. A very well stocked local Spar shop is half a mile away in Bellabeg. Please phone me for more information, availability and reservations. Restaurants for very good food : Kildrummy Inn (11 miles) The Clockhouse Tomintoul (17 miles) The Steading Bar in Strathdon, with its cosy ambience, is great for drinks. There is also an excellent new restaurant in Ballater called The Fish Shop. Ballater (19 miles) is ideal for a bigger shopping trip and is beautifully laid out with a range of interesting local shops including a delicatessen, coffee shops and galleries.
