The annual Ballater Duck Festival is held on the 2nd June 2024 from 11am to 4pm, is a family fun day on the Village Green (AB35 5NE) in the centre of Ballater on Royal Deeside involving 50 plus  trades, craft and charity stalls, with entertainment for children including bouncy castle, bouncy slide and merry-go-round.

As well as the local shops, restaurants and cafes, there are food stalls on the Green including burgers, pizza and donuts.  The Ballater Pipe Band plays and there’s live musical entertainment on the stage plus many other events on the Green, culminating in a giant inflatable duck race on the River Dee and a Tote if you fancy a ‘flutter’ on one of the ducks.

Stallholders can apply for a pitch at this year’s event by contacting ballaterducks@gmail.com and requesting an application form.

Fundraising dinner, Speyside Hotel, Grantown on Spey, 11 March 2023 at 6pm.

Wheels4Life is a non-profit charity, that provides bicycles to people in great need of transportation throughout the developing world. We work with volunteers in the field, local organisations and non profits, schools, community leaders and health care clinics they help us identify those people in genuine need of a bike. These people are those that live in both primative and remote areas, with no access to, nor the means of affording public transportation. The closest school, doctor, or work place might be as far as 10 to 20 miles away. The gift of mobility can make all the difference to a person’s life and help them to break out of the vicious cycle of poverty.

Between dinner courses three locals will talk about and share : A Lands End to John O’ Groats bike ride, Green and sustainable initiatives in Grantown on Spey and taking part in the World Butchers Challenge in the United States.

This is the final event of Sustainable Strathspey’s 2022/23 winter season of climate cafes with Home Energy Scotland, a local building expert and a local installer in attendance.

The general themes to be covered:
How to maximise the energy performance of an existing property to save energy.
Technical advice on insulation improvements and renewable technologies.
Advice on funding streams and practical considerations of undertaking such work.

The purpose of the event is to engage with householders living in or near Strathspey focusing on these topic areas and having experts on hand to answer questions directly. Although the formal part of the session will be for one hour, we are keen for additional bespoke interaction afterwards.

Open to all.

At the Outdoor Draughts Board at The Square, Grantown-on-Spey PH16 3HN. All welcome.

This Sunday market is very friendly and full of different stall from jewellery, honey, wood carvings, prints and paintings and many more

Come for a Wildlife Wander with someone from our knowledgeable team to see some of the amazing wildlife that Spring brings to Insh Marshes.

On this leisurely walk see the dainty violet flowers, lush green leaves on the trees and hear a variety of bird species singing their Spring songs.

April is a busy time for breeding birds and many waders call the marshlands home at this time of year, including curlew, lapwing, redshank and snipe. Hopefully we will hear them calling and see them defending their territory.

We will meet in the RSPB Insh Marshes Car Park – what3words: ///epic.youth.venturing and grid ref: NN775998

This tour will follow the Invertromie Trail – some areas may be rough underfoot. It is unfortunately not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies, and we recommend sturdy footwear.

Starting this convention in the Cairngorms is a natural outworking of where we live and therefore our home mission field, and a desire that Scotland – and in particular the north – has this gathering of God’s people – for all ages and stages – on an annual basis to praise and worship and learn together.

It’s an inherently beautiful location and shouts of God’s glory, and we’d love to establish rhythm and place for God’s people here. And one that encourages the faithful that live locally.

We are seeking to refresh and resource the local church. Please see our website for details of the full programme that will once again be taking place in wonderful Badaguish – a breathtaking and peaceful spot.
