Run Balmoral is North-East Scotland’s biggest mass participation sporting event.

Each year around 5000 runners, from primary-school pupils to international athletes, take part in our two-day community running festival, set against the spectacular backdrop of Balmoral Castle and Estate.

Joining them are around 10,000 spectators, all free to enjoy the food and fun of the bustling event village, as well as the beauty of the event’s magical Deeside location. Every finisher receives a special medal and, in 2026, will have the option to purchase a sustainable Run Balmoral t-shirt. Saturday plays host to the McIntosh Plant Hire 1.5km Primary Schools Race, the RAM Tubulars 2.5km Secondary Schools Race, the Harbour Energy 5km and the Stena Drilling 10km.

Sunday is trails day with two off-road events: the 6 Mile Trail Race and the 15 Mile Trail Race. Take on all four main events over the two days and you’ll become one of our John Clark Motor Group Devils of Deeside!

Pull on your Santa hat and join us for a jolly 2km trail run through the magical Abernethy Forest! Wear something red, bring your festive spirit, and enjoy a fun morning out for all the family.

What is Anagach Woods parkrun?
A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate – it’s up to you!

When is it?
Every Saturday at 9:30am.

Where is it?
The event takes place at Anagach Woods, Forest Road, Grantown-on-Spey, PH26 3JL. See Course page for more details.

What does it cost to join in?
Nothing – it’s free! but please register before you first come along. Only ever register with parkrun once and don’t forget to bring a scannable copy of your barcode (request a reminder). If you forget it, you won’t get a time.

How fast do I have to be?
We all take part for our own enjoyment. Please come along and join in whatever your pace!

The DoonThaBrae Enduro Series is back for 2025!


Here it is the final showdown of the Tartan Enduro Series! We’ll be wrapping up the epic season with Round 4 at Bike Glenlivet on 14th September!

Glenlivet Mountain Bike Trail Centre is the perfect place to end the series in style, with stunning scenery, variety of trails and seemingly endless improvements to the trail centre. Expect a party atmosphere to celebrate an incredible season of grassroots Enduro and crowning our series winners! With Laggan, Aboyne, and Tarland, it will all comes down to this. Who will take the top step? Who’s just here for the good times? Either way, you don’t want to miss this one!
