There will be many events, at various locations for you to enjoy involving eating, drinking, or indulging in retail therapy. There is something for everyone in Speyside.
Join the annual Race the Train event supported by Cairngorm Runners and attempt racing the traditional Highland steam train! Race goes through the picturesque Cairngorm National Park, starting at Boat of Garten, along the beautiful Speyside Way, following the tracks of Strathspey Steam Train and finishes in Aviemore, where participants can enjoy a local beer and the well-deserved rest.
Race takes place on Saturday 4th of September at 10.30am, with registration opening at 8.30am at Strathspey Train Station’s car park in Aviemore.
Registration Fee:
For members of Scottish Athletics: £20
For non-members of Scottish Athletics: £22
This year the exciting opportunity to take a ride in the traditional steam train is reserved for top fundraisers! All participants are encouraged to raise a target of just £100 to support DSUK’s work for disabled communities across the UK. Everyone who reached their target by the event date will be taken on the steam train, from Aviemore to Boat of Garten to start the race.
We are aware that many of our runners are travelling to Aviemore. Our friends at Cairngorm Hotel have generously agreed to offer 10% discount to participants of Race the Trainif you book directly through their website. Be quick, as this is on first comefirst served basis!
You can also find many great places to stay through Seasgair Lodges.
