Join us for our festive shopping weekend with plenty of activities and fun for all the family.
Local, independent shops, an outdoor Christmas market and art/craft fair selling local produce/goods, entertainment and fantastic food and drink.

Car Boot Sale & Market
​Saturday, 23rd October 2021
​10am – 4pm

We will be holding a car boot sale and market to raise funds for the museum at the Grantown Showground on 23rd October.
​Clear out your cupboards and make space in your garage. This is your chance to make £££££ from your clutter!

Buyers admitted from 10am.
​Free entry and parking.

Set up for sellers we be from 9am:
Cars £10
Vans or cars w/trailers £15.

Join the Warden for this special tour, where you will get up close and personal with the wonderful waders and wildfowl that spend the winter on Insh Marshes!

– Experience parts of the site not normally open to visitors

– Find out more about our winter residents, including whooper swans, geese and goldeneye, and learn some ID hints and tips

– Learn about the maintenance of our wetland habitat and future plans for the reserve

This will be a walking tour (approximately 3 miles) and will go through rough ground which may be muddy, so sturdy boots or wellies are essential. Please also make sure you have suitable warm, waterproof clothing. We will stop for lunch out on the reserve, so please come prepared with a packed lunch and drinks. All levels of knowledge and experience are welcome.

Numbers are strictly limited and pre-booking is essential. Suitable for age 12+; children must be accompanied by an adult.

Happy haunting this October, as we bring a feast of Halloween activities to Blair Castle! With prizes to be won, add our broomstick hunt and spooky wood activity trail to your half term holiday plans.

Activities are included as part of our standard ticket options, with an annual season pass a great way to enjoy this event and selected events in the future.

Andy works for the world renowned Hutton Institute and in collaboration with the charity Plantlife they are studying the biodiversity in the soils on the top of the Munros in the Cairngorm National Park, and how this can be sustained in the face of climate change. You will be surprised by the amazing diversity of organisms living and thriving in these harsh environments.

Steve fulfilled a life-long ambition when he jumped on his motorcycle and set off to circumnavigate the world. Last year he shared his journey from Argentina to Alaska with us and now he returns to describe an, even more, epic journey!

Alan has sailed to then climbed the highest points on most of Scotland’s Islands and will be sharing images of wonderful islands and thoughts on modern island life. The tour will take in the Fair Isles, St Kilda, Canna, Rona, the infamous “anthrax island” of Gruinard along with a few more lesser known islands in the passing.

From Scotland to the Alps, to Kyrgyzstan and Patagonia, Scott shares his recent adventures climbing and flying in the mountains. Join us for a journey through the successes, failures and critical decisions that have kept Scott alive and motivated in his continued pursuit of adventures.

Kenny is a Wildlife Ecologist who works for Forestry & Land Scotland and leads the Predator Project on the Partnership. Over the last couple of decades, a novel community of vertebrate predators has been reassembling within the Cairngorm Connect area, holding important populations of threatened prey species, such as the Capercaillie. Kenny will update us on the first results from the research into the various species interactions in this fascinating system.

A spooktacular series of films will be on show from the 22nd – 24th of October at Blair Castle. Get your pumpkin spiced popcorn at the ready and enjoy a retro outdoor cinema experience from the comfort of your own car.

With classic films for all the family, make a day of it at Blair Castle and enjoy our gardens, grounds, restaurant and gift shop, as well as a tour of the ancestral home of the Earls and Dukes of Atholl. Tickets will be on sale soon, so keep the dates in the diary!

Outdoor catering options will also be available, so keep a lookout for more announcements soon.
