A sensational series of new compositions by renowned Scottish fiddler, Paul Anderson, paintings by distinguished Scottish artist John Lowrie Morrison (Jolomo) and verse written by eminent Irish lyricist Francie Devine inspired by the Scottish Island of Iona.

This is the premiere of this new blend of arts. The event will include performances of the music and written word combined with Jolomo’s evocative paintings.

This is a unique, once only event.

A solo show of works taking inspiration from the surrounding landscape in which Sylva and her family live and play and share their connection with that environment, while also exploring the importance of connecting with nature during the corona virus pandemic.

As part of our community connections series we are delighted to have this collection of new work on show.

Moishe’s Bagel was formed in 2003, the lucky meeting of an Edinburgh-based Chilean tango singer and four like-minded musicians. Their music is an intoxicating mix of Eastern European dance, Middle Eastern rhythms and virtuoso performances. According to The Scotsman ‘ they put the class into unclassified’.

A wonderful new ‘digital guidebook’ has now been created for the Badenoch area – really useful for visitors and locals alike – ‘Badenoch The Storylands App’. It’s a free smartphone app, and comes with highly recommended tours for driving, cycling and walking as well as a customisable map with accommodation, restaurants and great places to visit in the area.

It also doubles as a Badenoch entertainment jukebox – featuring music by local performers and over 7 hours of local fascinating local heritage stories written and narrated by well known local folk musician Hamish Napier.

The app also includes a pioneering new feature for travel apps of this kind – stunningly detailed 3D artist impressions of what the local castles and stone circles would have looked like back in their heyday. See Ruthven Barracks and two local hill forts as they might have looked centuries ago.

Whether a visitor to the area or local this is a chance to hear more about the App, its content and how it works, presented by Hamish Napier and hosted by The Badenoch Great Place Project.

Ashley Fripp is welcomed back to Boat of Garten for his third visit as a guest of The Osprey Music Society. His recital will focus on two of his favourite composers, Chopin and Schubert. The concert will kick off with Chopin’s, ‘Impromptus 1 and 4’ followed by Schubert’s ‘Sonata in B flat major, D.960’, and after the interval the programme continues with Schubert’s ‘Impromptu in F minor’ followed by Chopin’s ‘Sonata No.3, opus 58 in B minor’.

You are warmly invited to an informal get-together at Kincraig Community Hall with local musician and composer Hamish Napier to learn about the new #badenochthestorylands App and explore all it has to offer, and a welcome chance to catch up with friends old and new.

Entry is free and all are welcome – and with a little encouragement maybe Hamish will play a tune! We’d love to welcome visitors as well as locals so please do spread the word.

The Badenoch The Storylands App is a new self-guided touring aid, showcasing the very best that local heritage has to offer.
