You are warmly invited to an informal get-together at Kincraig Community Hall with local musician and composer Hamish Napier to learn about the new #badenochthestorylands App and explore all it has to offer, and a welcome chance to catch up with friends old and new.

Entry is free and all are welcome – and with a little encouragement maybe Hamish will play a tune! We’d love to welcome visitors as well as locals so please do spread the word.

The Badenoch The Storylands App is a new self-guided touring aid, showcasing the very best that local heritage has to offer.

7pm Skills Workshops (Donations on door, online booking in advance required). Skills covered in workshops might include ‘How to Play in a Folk Session’,’ How to Learn New Tunes’ and ‘How to Play Together Dynamically’

8.30pm Slow Session Trad Tunes Table (for less experienced players). Held in a corner of the Ghillies Rest Bar of the Duke of Gordon Hotel. Free, open to all: participants and audience. Drawing musicians around a table in a traditional folk tunes night, weaving in local memories and anecdotes.

9.30pm Advanced Session Trad Tunes Table (for more experienced players). Same details as above. Finish 11pm-ish.

Open Mic Sessions hosted by writer, Merryn Glover, at The Boathouse, Loch Insh near Kincraig.
The second Tuesday of every month, 7-8pm skills workshop, eg: How to Tell Your Story, Using Your Body and Finding Your Voice.
8.30-10.30pm open mic.
Some of the programme organised in advance + plenty of opportunity for joining on the night.
Free & open to all. Warm, supportive atmosphere to share stories, poetry and spoken word, with music woven in.
September theme: Water.
Held in a side nook of the Boathouse Restaurant.
Dates: September 14th, October 12th, November 9th, December 14th, January 11th, February 8th

An exhibition on the life and times of the Countess of Seafield, Caroline Stuart

Main exhibition shows paintings by the talented local painter Campbell Bryson, whose stunning trees and landscapes will have an autumn feel in this exhibition.

There will also be a great selection of good quality craft items on display including wood, tweed, jewellery, ceramics, cards and glass. The gallery is also home to Anne’s Fused and Light glass fusing workshop. Classes can be arranged in advance for those happy to confirm their covid status with a lateral flow test.

Main exhibition shows oils by the Edinburgh artist Gill Knight, who is exhibiting a mixture of landscapes and flower paintings. Gill is an emerging talent, whose recent show in Edinburgh was a sellout success.

We are also showing additional paintings by local gallery artists including Bob Kinnaird, David Fallows and Miriam Smith. There is a great selection of good quality craft items on display too including wood, tweed, jewellery, ceramics, cards and glass. The gallery is also home to Anne’s Fused and Light glass fusing workshop.

Experience life in the Past –
​Grown Up Dressing Up
Grantown Museum presents costumes from its unique dressing up experience. On display will be over 20 exquisite, handmade replica costumes in sumptuous fabrics.
If you would like to try on any of the costumes, book an hour in the museum or an afternoon ‘on location’​ with our expert dresser who will take you on an adventure through time. Take home a video and souvenir photographs and feel what it was like to be dressed in the finery of the day.
