Help us maintain our beautiful pathways within the Cairngorms National Park this winter by participating and sharing our online campaign with your loved ones.

We are inviting businesses and individuals to participate this Christmas, by each showing 5 Acts of Kindness, then donating £5 and lastly, tagging and challenging a friend or colleague to do the same.

Our aim is to raise £7000 this Christmas, to help us give, protect and grow our communities-, nature- and landscape-based projects in the Cairngorms National Park.

Visit www.cairngormstrust.org.uk or follow us on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/thecairngormstrust/ for more info.

Join us as Speysound Radio team up with the Grantown East for our second annual Christmas Market.
We shall have over 40 stalls selling arts and crafts, festive street food, miniature train rides and of course SANTA!
As always, this is a free to attend event, with free entry and free parking.
Sunday 20th November 2022
10:30-15:00

Eileen Budd will be sharing seasonal stories from Scottish folklore for families. Listen to tales of winter goddesses, witches, giants and other beasties.

There will be two sessions on the same day, one from 11:00 to 12:00 and one from 13:00 to 14:00. You are welcome to pick one of the times, or book both sessions, as Eileen will be telling different stories in each of them.

Please donate if you can. The Clan Macpherson Museum Trust is a registered charity and during these tough times, every penny supports the continued running of the museum and hosting of events, both, online and in-person.

What places are special to you where you live? What places do you avoid, and why? We all have our own maps of places, linked to memories and stories. Together we’ll go on a short Storywalk around Newtonmore, sharing local folklore and memories of places important to us, or imagining new tales. Then we’ll return to the museum to create our very own Storymap and record our stories, to share a Newtonmore as you’ve never seen or heard before! All ages are welcome. You don’t need to be a resident of Newtonmore to join in!

Browse for Christmas presents and treats for yourself in a unique museum-setting.

Enjoy music, cake and hot drinks, have a chat and get into the Christmas mood!

The Kilted Carver is back to our museum, with a new workshop for you!

Just before Christmas, learn about the history of sgian dhubs and carve your very own one, to keep or gift to a loved one.

Richard Sidgwick, author of ‘Ardverikie – A Castle in the Air’, will talk about the History of the estate.

We welcome everyone to our Online Christmas Ceilidh this year.

Bring a story, a project, a song, anything you would like to share, dance along to the tunes, or simply listen from the comfort of your sofa. We welcome people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to sign up to be part of this innovative new project.

The word ceilidh comes from the Gaelic for ‘gathering’ and with this wonderful blend of art and chat from one home to another, we would like to bring together and celebrate the importance of music, song and story together.

We will have a good selection of fine art and crafts for you to find some lovely presents!
The fine art will be mainly smaller paintings by numerous local artists.

Dave Fallows was one of the best known local artists, having worked here over decades. He had an art studio at Chapel House Arts until the start of lockdown, when health issues forced him to reliquish the space. Sadly Dave passed away earlier this year, but we are pleased to show a wide selection of his work in watercolour, oil and pastel. Come and find something to remember him by.

We have additional fine art by gallery artists including Bob Kinnaird, Douglas Spalding, Jos Mahon and Miriam Smith, as well as a wide selection of locally produced crafts.
