Kingussie’s annual winter festival, FOOD ON FILM, brings the big screen to the rural Highlands of Scotland in a unique way, celebrating and exploring the world of food through film, conversation and shared experiences.
The festival opens on Thursday 5th at Gallery Eleven41 with a UK premiere and a special Meet the Director evening with Françoise Desbois. On Friday 6th, the acclaimed documentary Honeyland will be screened in the Talla nan Ros Food Hall.
On Saturday 7th, the festival comes together at the Badenoch Centre for a day celebrating and exploring the world of food, with cooking demonstrations, food producers, the Cairngorms Food Hall, and the bread competition results. The festival concludes on Saturday evening with Les Saveurs du Palais, screened at Talla nan Ros.
You’re welcome to join us for the full festival or simply dip in and out of individual events — whatever suits your appetite.
For our first screening of the year, we are excited to be supporting a truly important and inspirational documentary, Champions of the Golden Valley, for a special event which is free to all! Please come and show support for this film and community cinema.
The award-winning documentary captures the emergence of Afghanistan’s homegrown ski culture in a breathtaking, seldom-seen region.
At its heart is Alishah Farhang, a former Winter Olympic hopeful whose dream transforms into a mission to bring skiing to his homeland. With handmade wooden skis and secondhand gear, young athletes from rival villages unite to compete in an extraordinary ski mountaineering race—a powerful catalyst for hope and community. When their world is suddenly upended, they must draw on the resilience forged on the slopes.
Riveting and deeply human, this visually stunning film reveals how sport can bridge divides and bring light to unexpected corners of the world—proving champions are made by more than medals.
As usual, doors will be 6.30pm.
FREE TICKETS FOR ALL.
