When is this event?
Discover the secrets and stories of the past, places and people of the Dava Moor in a guided walk led by local historian and author, John Halliday.
This engaging walking tour will visit local historic sites and points of interest, as John leads an exploration of the people and events that made the Dava Moor we know today. John will weave a narrative that ties together facts and stories around Gaelic place names, landforms, geology, myths and legends, abandoned crofts, and farming methods.
The walk follows estate hill tracks in a loop, with some tracks leading slightly uphill to give outstanding views of the moor looking out over the Moray Firth to the north and Cairngorms to the south.
This event is part of the Cairngorms Nature Festival which runs from 12 – 21 May 2023. It’s a ten day festival with over 80 exciting events across the Cairngorms National Park celebrating the incredible landscapes and nature found here.
