When is this event?
Just outside the village of Kincraig, deep in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, lies one of the most magical stargazing spots in the UK.
With minimal light pollution and wide open skies, Loch Insh is the ideal place to wrap up warm, step outside, and connect with the cosmos.
Your 2-hour session begins inside our cozy dome with an engaging presentation that serves as your guided introduction to the night sky.
You will learn how to spot constellations, bright planets, the Milky Way, and, if you are lucky, even the Northern Lights, all with the naked eye.
Feel free to bring your own binoculars if you would like a closer look. Our guide will also share handy smartphone tips for night photography and star chart apps, so make sure your phone has plenty of charge and bring a tripod if you want to capture the sky!
After the dome session, we will head outdoors for about an hour.
Be sure to dress for the cold with plenty of winter layers. Guided by low light torches along woodland trails, our expert guides will take you to hidden local spots where the dark silhouettes of the trees frame the stars above in dramatic contrast.
Why not make a night of it? Add a delicious dinner or an overnight stay to your visit at Loch Insh and turn your stargazing experience into the ultimate Highland getaway.
