A hill walk around the Northern Cairngorms and the Plateau for autistic adults. This is suitable for people with a good level of walking fitness. We will be exploring the secret spots and beautiful viewpoints of the Cairngorm Plateau. We have chosen a Friday to ensure both the car park and the hill paths are quieter than they would be on the weekend.

Search for and learn about some of the beautiful butterflies and moths of the Cairngorms, a stronghold area for several species. Depending on weather and seasonal variation, these could include Pearl-bordered Fritillary, Green Hairstreak and Emperor Moth, which all have particular habitat requirements. We will open a light trap set the previous night to view and release any moths caught before walking a short circular route to look out for day-flying species. Donations welcome.

Come and visit Glen Tanar Visitor Centre for a range of great interactive experiences! Activities provided by: OWLNEG, Deeside Climate Action Network, Aberdeen Astronomy society, and Bumblebee Conservation. Glen Tanar Estate will also have a working sauna over the weekend!

The rangers at Balmoral are hosting a volunteer day for people who want to get stuck in and give back to the amazing landscapes of the Balmoral Estate.

Balmoral Castle are going to be live streaming on Facebook from a lek on the estate to share with you this mesmerising wildlife spectacle. Experience the incredible views of a black grouse lek from the comfort of your own home!

Forest Bathing, or Shinrin-yoku is the practice of immersing yourself in nature; ‘bathing’ in the awesome goodness that trees release into the atmosphere called ‘phytoncides’ and receiving mental calmness from the fractal patterns, vibrant shades of green and calming blues around us. Spring brings glorious sunrises, creeping across calm lochs and the dawn chorus bursts into life above us! We shall start early, but awakening your senses as the day breaks will be worth it!

Every month we have the opportunity to ‘forest bathe’ under a new full moon. The land sounds different and certainly looks different and our senses are heightened in the new light we experience during a session.
