When is this event?
Explore the ever-changing riverside landscape with Cairngorms National Park staff. We will be sketching, mapping, playing games and building models to discover what makes our countryside special. The event is aimed at children (aged 8 and over) with an interest in the outdoors, nature and making or drawing things. They need to be comfortable walking about ¾ mile (1.2km) along a path and over some rough ground. All materials will be provided and yours to keep!
Exploring the Deeside landscape, this event will involve a walk with National Park staff up and around Craigendarroch hill, stopping at intervals to observe, discuss and sketch some of the special landscape qualities, ranging from broad mountain landforms to the details of trees, lichen and rocks. This event is aimed at everybody, even if you don’t know one native plant or landform from another and haven’t drawn since school days. You do, however, need to be comfortable walking about 2 miles (3.2km), including up and down fairly steep slopes along a narrow, sometimes rough woodland path. All materials will be provided and yours to keep.
Come and help National Trust for Scotland Rangers create valuable deadwood habitat on Britain’s largest National Nature Reserve. Learn why deadwood is so important, gain some new skills, get active and meet friendly like minded people.
