When is this event?
Join us for a guided woodland wander. Our route will take us along the shore of Loch Garten, wind its way beneath towering pine trees and visit tranquil Loch Mallachie. We will listen for the chirps of crossbills and the trills of crested tits, look for tell-tale signs of red squirrels and explore the undergrowth of Caledonian pine forest.
The walk will follow footpaths and last roughly 3 hours, please wear sturdy footwear and dress appropriately for the weather. Covid safety measures will be in place, more details can be found on the website. Toilets will be available at the beginning and end of the walk. Well-behaved dogs, on a lead, are welcome.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the walk begins.
Starting from outside the Day Lodge at the top of the car park our experienced ranger will take you on a short walk from the Mountain Resort along the Northern Corries footpath.
Get out and explore Cairngorm Mountain safely in the hands of our friendly rangers. You will hear stories of how the landscape was formed, learning of its vibrant history and the flora and fauna that are an integral part of its eco-system. The route follows the Northern Corries path out to the Allt Coire an t-Sneachda burn crossing and returns to the car park covering a distance of 2km ( 1.2miles). Unfortunately, the mountain paths are not suitable for buggies or wheelchairs.
You’ll get the chance to stop for some breath-taking photos before reaching the burn crossing. It’s a beautiful spot where you can enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature, running water and the breeze of the wind. With dramatic views looking into the spectacular Northern Corries and down towards Glenmore, Rothiemurchus and Strathspey.
In the centre of Aviemore, we’re hosting another amazing Food and Drinks Festival. With fresh food and drink available for a wide range of local producers there will be something for everyone. Join us from 11am – 4pm for freshly cooked hot food, delicious drinks and scrumptious treats. There will be fun family activities to join in with too! Find us on Aviemore Village Green on Saturday 20th August for a brilliant day.

The Badenoch communities hold an annual heritage festival which builds on the very successful Kingussie festivals held previously. The Badenoch Heritage Festival in 2022 is being held from 18th-25th September.
Details of the walks, talks and online events taking place during the week can be downloaded from the website. Most of the events are bookable on Eventbrite, and you can also view all the bookable items there.
Did you know there are over 800 Health Walks taking place across Scotland each week? There are 12 in the Cairngorms National Park coordinated by the Cairngorms National Park Authority, and joining one of them is a great way to enjoy nature, make new friends and feel better!
Health Walks are short, safe, social, local, low level, with a trained leader to show you the way. From 10 minutes up to an hour, they are open to a wide range of abilities, although to ensure they are as safe and welcoming as possible we ask that no dogs other than assistance dogs are brought along.
If you join one of our groups, it will give you the chance to explore the outdoors, get to know the local area, meet new people and support your wellbeing!
Please note meeting days, times and locations can sometimes change in the course of the year. For the most up to date information, we recommend you visit www.cairngorms.co.uk/healthwalks to check details before you head along.
