Glenmore 24 is a 12/24hr trail race held in the Glenmore forest outside Aviemore in the Scottish Highlands.
Situated near Loch Morlich, the location is stunning and completely off road. The route is a 4 mile loop starting at ‘The Hayfield’ then heading out on to the forest trails passing Loch Morlich with a water stop at 2 miles.
There’s a wee hill between miles 2 and 3!
The main race route is in full operation for 12/24hr hour with an option at 11/23hr to join a small 400m loop for the last hour. It is worth noting that if you start a 4 mile loop and don’t complete it within the 12/24hr time, the distance will not be recorded. All 400m loops are counted and recorded using a measuring wheel.
The Hayfield will be set up as a runners welfare area. Runner’s aid stations can be set up around the perimeter tap where the runner’s crew can service them on each lap.
Join Cairngorms Astronomy Group and Tomintoul & Glenlivet Development Trust for a night of stargazing at Inveraven Church & Pictish Stones. What did the Celts see in the night sky? Can these enigmatic monuments shed any light on Pictish astronomy? Come along to find out more.

Telescopes can be daunting if you’re just starting out and this workshop will help you to get to grips with your equipment. We’ll be using the hall and the porch to set up and learn all about different types of telescopes.
During this workshop we will focus on:
Using your telescope
Types of telescope
Observing deep sky objects
We encourage you to bring your own equipment, as our team will be on hand to help with all your telescope needs.
And we’re back! Come and explore the jungle in our main hall and meet the famous characters from Rudyard Kipling’s book as they tell the story of Mowgli. This is a version written by Jessica Swale featuring songs you will want to sing along with. The show will make you laugh out loud, shed a tear and jump in your seat.
Tickets are now available from the school office. Adults £6 Under 18’s £4. I would get your tickets early as they will sell out very quickly!
Discover the magic of the outdoors after dark in the Cairngorms National Park with our star-gazing experience. Loch Insh is a great dark skies area being just outside the local village.
The emphasis is on naked-eye observation, but we will also teach you how to use your smart phones (make sure they are fully charged) and you could bring binoculars if you have them.
Wrap yourself up well as we will spend a good hour outdoors weather permitting. Bring a low light torch to make walking in the woodland trails easier. Our guides will lead you to some magical local places to capture some cool night photos on your smart phone or camera. The dark trees provide a dramatic contrast to the night sky.
In Scotland, cloudy skies are a fact of life, but we do get some clear skies to and even the Northern lights. You just never know what you’re going to get.
We’ll do everything we can to create a memorable experience for you and your loved ones. You’ll leave knowing a great deal more about stargazing than the majority of people.
