The stunning black grouse males put on quite a display in the early hours of spring. The black grouse is well known for its ?lekking? behaviour and it is a marvel to see.
Join us as we head up the Glen from Ballater to Loch Muick in a Land-rover Discovery on the search for this beautiful bird and get a good look at the action.
On top of watching the black grouse perform their lekking display Glen Muick is full of sounds and activity at this time in the morning,
and the sunrise should be just catching the hills, so well worth the early start.
There are binoculars for everyone but plenty to see without!

After a selling out in 2022, our immensely popular Kid?s Ceilidh is back for the Cairngorms Nature Festival this May! Whether you?re a complete beginners or know all the steps, there?s fun for all here.

With live traditional music from mighty musicians led by Grantown local, Hamish Napier, this will be an exciting, energetic and modern sound for everyone to jump about the hall to!

Hamish will talk everyone through the dances with fun and clear instructions, so no previous dance experience is necessary.

This is far from a formal dance workshop ? no tartan kilts or sashes necessary here! Instead, expect an informal fun-filled, mini ceilidh event. Surrounded by mountain views and fresh air, join us for 60 minutes of grounding Vinyasa Yoga. Yoga outside is a wonderful, sensory way to connect to nature – to feel the sand beneath your feet, the sun on your skin and to listen to the sounds of the birds, the breeze and the water.
We?ll begin gently focusing on the breath, slowing down and listening to the world around us, before building heat through the body with flowing movement. Finally we?ll slow it down again with some longer-held restorative postures, leaving the mind and body calm and restored.
Izzy is a Yoga Alliance certified teacher with over 200 hours training in Vinyasa, Yin and Ashtanga Yoga based in the Cairngorms. She teaches twice weekly in Aviemore as well as hosting creative day retreats. Her years of experience inspire her teachings with Yogic philosophy at the root. Far more than about touching your toes, yoga is an opportunity to slow down, listen to the body and quieten the mind. Izzy teaches with an ethos that classes should be fun, empowering and inclusive of everybody, whatever level you are at.
