The TOMS season ends on Saturday 20 April 2024 when the wonderful MAXWELL STRING QUARTET return after a number of years.

Colin Scobie-violin: George Smith-violin: Elliott Perks-viola: Duncan Strachan-cello, are masters in the classical music field, but also have a love of Folk music, which they say ‘.. is the root, the fundament of classical music, and our approach aims to marry the two together in a unique, free, and meaningful way. The performance for TOMS allows you to enjoy both aspects, with their programme of:

Haydn – String Quartet in E flat Op 20/1: Maxwell Quartet – Worksongs (Folk music of Scotland): Beethoven – Quartet in C sharp minor Op 131,

On Sunday 17 March 2024 the renowned TIM KLIPHUIS TRIO will return to Boat of Garten with Tim Kliphuis on violin, Nigel Clark on guitar and Roy Percy on Double bass. Their programme will comprise Mussorgsky’s innovative and popular themes re-imagined by the Trio, and added to with new compositions based on famous paintings by Van Gogh, Hokusai, O’Keefe and others. This will be a concert of two halves, the second half will be material from gypsy jazz (Grappelli), Bach, and Five Elements (an ode to the planet) programmes.

The BROEN ENSEMBLE will make its 3rd visit to TOMS on Saturday 17 Feb 2024, when these outstandingly talented musicians will play a lovely and exhilarating string sextet programme:
Tchaikovsky – Souvenir de Florence 1. Allegro con spirito: Mozart – Grande Sestetto Concertante for string sextet K364: Johannes Brahms – String Sextet No. 2 in G major, Op. 36

ALBA CHALLAH’s last performance in Boat of Garten was their first performance for a classical music audience and it was absolutely stunning.

This Glasgow based Klezmer band is making a much-demanded return visit – showcasing Eastern European repertoire, world folk music and ritual melodies, fusing classical music with Klezmer.

The band leader, Ruaridh Bakke, says – ‘We’ll all be delighted to return to Boat because of the wonderful reception we received last December, and will work on a programme to blow your socks off, for our return in January 2024′.
