When is this event?
As part of the Cairngorms Nature BIG Weekend, Dr Keri Langridge, in-situ conservation manager for Saving Wildcats, will discuss this European partnership project dedicated to Scottish wildcat conservation and recovery, aiming to prevent the extinction of wildcats in Scotland by breeding and releasing them into the wild.
Dr Helen Taylor, RZSS conservation programme manager, will then discuss the pine hoverfly conservation breeding programme, a record-breaking project dedicated to breeding and releasing critically endangered pine hoverflies in the Cairngorms National Park to safeguard the future of this important pollinator. With both projects based at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland’s Highland Wildlife Park, this talk will give the audience an insight into how conservation breeding for release projects can have a huge impact on native species restoration.
