Cairngorm Community Cinema – January Free Event – “Champions of the Golden Valley”

For our first screening of the year, we are excited to be supporting a truly important and inspirational documentary, Champions of the Golden Valley, for a special event which is free to all! Please come and show support for this film and community cinema.

The award-winning documentary captures the emergence of Afghanistan’s homegrown ski culture in a breathtaking, seldom-seen region.

At its heart is Alishah Farhang, a former Winter Olympic hopeful whose dream transforms into a mission to bring skiing to his homeland. With handmade wooden skis and secondhand gear, young athletes from rival villages unite to compete in an extraordinary ski mountaineering race—a powerful catalyst for hope and community. When their world is suddenly upended, they must draw on the resilience forged on the slopes.
Riveting and deeply human, this visually stunning film reveals how sport can bridge divides and bring light to unexpected corners of the world—proving champions are made by more than medals.

As usual, doors will be 6.30pm.
