Achnahatnich House

Luxuriously renovated farmhouse sleeping 6 on Rothiemurchus with views over to Cairngorm Mountain.

Originally the main house of Achnahatnich Farm, a tenant farm on the Rothiemurchus Estate, it has been beautifully renovated in 2019 to provide a luxury stay in a uniquely private setting.

London-based stylist and interior designer Fanny Ward designed the interiors in a modern Scandinavian style to be light and bright, practical but pretty.

Her trademark quirky touches are everywhere - like a big statement chandelier above the staircase and lots of blue and white pottery on the walls.

The sitting room is welcoming, warm and comfy - a perfect place to unwind with a dram in front of the wood burner after a day on the hill.

The three bedrooms have all been furnished with supremely comfortable beds and linens - mattresses from Cocketts and luxury 600 thread count bedlinen - for the best night’s sleep you will have had in years.

All three also have their own bathroom or shower room.

The master bedroom has double doors through to an ensuite with decadent freestanding bath and shower.

For a spectacular vista, the little sit-out-erie at the top of the hill behind the house provides magnificent views of the Lairig Ghru, one of Scotland's most iconic mountain passes which leads to Deeside and Braemar.

Dog friendly - we accept up to 2 dogs..

How to find us

You’ll be tucked away from it all, but only a short distance from the “ski road” running through Rothiemurchus Estate between Aviemore and Cairngorm. At the end of your own private road in the Rothiemurchus forest, Achnahatnich House sits in a secluded position looking out to the mountains. From the front of the house you can watch the ever-changing colours and patterns on the mountains, as the sun and clouds create a beautiful natural spectacle across the Cairngorms. Sit out for a while and listen to the pheasants, swallows and curlews as their calls carry across the quiet countryside.
