Accommodation

Forest Cottage, Loch an Eilein

This pretty little red-roofed, wooden-porched cottage sleeps 2 adults and 2 children.

Situated on Loch an Eilein’s wooded north-east shore, in the heart of Rothiemurchus - one of Scotland's most picturesque Highland estates.

It was beautifully restored as a cosy forest hideaway in 2018.

With a wood-burning stove and interiors which reflect both the infinite variety of woods and greens of the forest.

The bedroom is fairy-tale romantic with its super-king bed and red and white cabin-luxe decor.

Bathroom: Rain shower, whirlpool bath and hidden flat screen TV at one end of the bathtub.

KItchen: Electric range oven, fridge freezer, wine fridge, dishwasher. A pretty twin bedroom upstairs can also be made up for you on request if you are bringing children.

Dog friendly - we accept up to 2 dogs. From the front door you’ll see glimpses of the pine-clad mountains beyond the loch.

You can make your way down the heather fringed path to where the forest opens out and the loch laps against the shore.

The water reflects the ever-changing Highland skies, and the trees frame a truly incredible view in any weather.

The lonely loch island with its ghostly ruined castle seems to float before you, and the forested slopes of the mountains fade into the distance beyond.

You can reach the centre of Aviemore on foot (30 minutes) or by bike (15 minutes) via quiet forest tracks, past herds of deer and breath-taking views across forested valleys.

In fact Rothiemurchus sits in the perfect Highlands location - ideally sited between the town of Aviemore and the wild beauty of the Cairngorms National Park..
