Glencoldon Cottage is a bright, cycle-friendly eco-cottage in the village of Boat of Garten, 6 miles from Aviemore.
It is ideal for 4-6 people and has a Gold Award for its many eco-friendly features and large "wild" garden, which welcomes a huge diversity of local wildlife.
It has been fully upgraded to modern high-spec, with state-of-the-art solar hot water and electricity, sunpipe, EV charging and other low-carbon features.
Short Term Let License No: HI-70366-F. As the cottage garden opens onto the Speyside Way, we have made sure it is fully cycle-friendly, from providing a secure bike shelter and basic tools, to clothes washing and fast drying facilities.
Cyclists also take advantage of the village’s fantastic bike shop for any parts, repairs or advice.
The cottage location is also ideal for all sorts of activities that the Cairngorms and Strathspey are famous for, from walking and watersports, to mountain adventures and whisky-tasting. As a natural wildlife haven, the spacious balcony deck area, with views to the Cairngorms, allows you to fully immerse in your tranquil surroundings, and enjoy the visits of the local (+ resident!), red squirrels, deer, rabbits and bats, and a huge range of birds, bees and butterflies.
The wildflowers and wild berry plants (even raspberries and strawberries!), encouraged to thrive, attract these locals and provide colour almost all year round. One of the many attractive features of the cottage is a large south-facing, bright, open sitting room and dining area with access to the balcony.
It also has bright east and south-facing bedrooms - 2 doubles (1 king-size) and 1 twin bedroom.
The new kitchen (part powered by sunpipe!), bathroom (+wc) and shower room (+wc) are all fully-equipped to modern high-spec.
There are no hidden extra costs, with all heat, power, and log usage for the wood burning stove, included.
Additional features would include: Wi-Fi broadband (unlimited BT infinity); Smart TV (including Fire Stick access to internet, movies, catch-up TV, etc.); Small lawn (with balls, badminton / volleyball net + other equipment); Direct access to woodland, wildlife, Loch Vaa and River Spey walks; Wood burning stove; BBQ; Travel cot and highchair.

Boat of Garten is a peaceful haven on the River Spey between Aviemore and Grantown-on-Spey, and is ideally located for easy access to the huge range of attractions in the local area, nature and wildlife opportunities, and other activities in the Cairngorms National Park. Grantown-on-Spey also marks the start of the world famous Whisky Trail through Speyside's 50+ distilleries. The cottage’s large child-friendly wild garden has direct gate access to the forest behind (with many local walks and scenic routes to the shops) and opens to the 65-mile Speyside Way to the front (running alongside the famous Strathspey Steam Railway – you can see this running past several times a day! [Feb-Oct]). The garden is partly an extension of the surrounding forest and partly an area where you can enjoy a barbeque, or a game of volleyball, badminton or mini-football on the small lawn.
