Glenmore Forestry Commission Visitor Centre

Glenmore Forest Park Glenmore provides opportunities for walking,cycling,cross-country skiing (Winter) and bird-watching in the forest or simply relaxing in the peaceful atmosphere of the pinewoods.

An introduction to orienteering pack (Trail-O) is available in the Visitor Centre for £2.50.

All abilities trails are available.

Watersports, fishing, canoeing and sailing are available on Loch Morlich (Summer).

There is camping and caravaning on the Forest Holidays campsite opposite the Visitor Centre.

Glenmore Visitor Centre The Visitor Centre offers a forest shop with an attractive range of gift items to suit everyone, especially pocket money items for children.

There are also toilet facilities.

An Audio-visual presentation and displays tell the story of the native pinewoods and restoration.

There are information touch screens, including childrens' games.

Our staff will be on hand to provide first hand information about the Forest Park, its trails and the recreation facilities it holds.

Trail maps are available at £1.00 each.

Parking fees apply to all the car parks at a daily rate of £2.00.

The ticket is transferable to all Forest Park car parks.

(Opening hours: Breakfast 9.30am - 11.30am, Lunch 11.30am - 3.30pm) Ancient Pine Forest Glenmore contains some of the best preserved areas of ancient Caledonian Pine Forest in the country.

This type of woodland formerly covered much of Scotland but, due to large-scale fellings during the 1st World War and earlier for charcoal, farming and shipbuilding, little of this once vast forest remains.

Only about 80 hectares (197 acres) of this pristine Pine, Juniper and Birch woodland survive in Glenmore, though work to restore another 1000 hectares is well underway through the removal of exotic tree species and encouraging native species to regenerate.

Opening Times

The centre is open every day (except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day) from 9am until 5pm (February half term - October and Christmas Holidays). 9.30a.m. until 4.30p.m. (November - February half term).
