There is something so comforting about staying in a wood-clad dwelling, made complete with a roaring fire and a tipple of your choice, from whisky to wine to hot chocolate!

The late Linda McCartney articulated a common human yearning, or "day dream", when she talked about how, as a young girl, she fantasised about living in a log cabin at the foot of a mountain and returning to it, after being out in nature, "to the cabin, with a big open fire, a record player and peace".

Home isn't a place, it's a feeling... so said author Cecilia Ahern.

And you will get that homely feeling staying in a cabin, lodge or chalet in the Cairngorms.

If you really want to add frills and up the 'hygge' factor, then some lodges, cabins and chalets in the Cairngorms also boast hot tubs, bars, games rooms and saunas!

Remember to book early, however, as these premium chalets often book up quickly.

Can I bring my pet to the accommodation?

That will depend on the particular accommodation so the best thing to do is contact them before you book to check. However, dogs in particular are welcomed warmly all over the Park, in many of the cafes and restaurants. There are so many wonderful walks to take your four legged friend on here just, please, respect the rules and walk your dog responsibly – see this page on outdoor access for more information.

what about wifi?

Most accommodation offers wifi and staff will be able to give you details on arrival. Similarly, the vast majority of restaurants, bars and cafes will also offer wifi. However, do bear in mind that there are some very remote, rural locations in the Park so wifi can be slower that you might be used to. Indeed, some of our visitors come here because they want to get away from wifi and digitally detox!
